• 1 slice of old bread
  • ½ teaspoon ancho chili pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon pepper

Food processor

Instructions:

  1. If bread is fresh and soft, preheat oven to 400 degrees F (if bread is older, skip steps 1-3)
  2. Place bread in oven to toast for 6-8 minutes or until golden brown
  3. Set aside to cool completely
  4. Place toasted bread, and remaining ingredients into food processor and pulse until well blended and bread has crumbled

Suggested Use:

  • Sprinkle on top of casseroles
  • Use to bread chicken or fish
  • Use in meatballs

Variations:

  • Replace spices with dried parsley, basil and onion for a more traditional meatball
  • Use panko bread crumbs with thyme, onion powder and cloves for crusted fish
  • Replace ancho chili, cayenne, and paprika with ½ Tablespoon Herbe de Provence
