Cauliflower belongs to the cruciferous family of vegetables which can provide many health benefits by making them part of your diet just a few times a week. It contains compounds called dithiolthinoes and indoles which protect against many types of cancer, including breast and colon cancer. For maximum digestibility, combine cauliflower with proteins, or fats/oils. In just a 3 ½ oz serving, cauliflower provides 3 grams of protein. To add some flavor and spice to your dishes, pair up cauliflower with some nutmeg, paprika or parsley.

For a tasty side, try roasting cauliflower drizzled with some olive oil and white balsamic vinegar. Saute up some raisins, and top it with fresh ground black pepper and Pecorino Romano cheese.
